My girls love these dresses because they flare out so dramatically when they spin. Kyra calls it her ‘’spinny” dress and Lia has, of course, followed suit.
Today was such a warm golden afternoon. The air was dry and dusty and I”ve been meaning to take them out in the late afternoon sun for some time now but never seem to have gotten around to it. This evening after dinner I zipped them into their dresses and we went down to the gardens beside a local historic house.
It has been so hot and dry the grass was the colour of desert sand and crispy beneath our feet. Still, the sun was throwing beautiful buttery-yellow light though the trees, so they ran up and down between the rows till they were puffed. Lia lost one shoe in the middle of it all and it added that bit of fairytale magic when I whispered in her ear that she was obviously just like Cinderella at the ball – in a big beautiful dress having lost one shoe while running. The beaming smile through the crocodile tears made me laugh out loud – such simple pleasures.
