ABA Calendar

I am so proud to have a photo selected for the Australian Breastfeeding Association 2010 Calendar.

The photo was from my very very first official portfolio building session with Marlene and her daughter Holly. Holly is also the baby featured in my banner, sitting in the large bowl. That image has become one of my ‘hero’ images and carries through all of my marketing.

And here she is now on the calendar, featured in September, sharing a quiet intimate moment with her mum, who was clearly besotted with her gorgeous daughter.

Sensational Sandra

Sandra asked me to photograph her for her new website (soon to launch, keep watching this space). She needed a couple of headshots and so we headed out to the backstreets of Surry Hills for a mini session. Sandra had just had her hair done, and she has the most striking colouring – I had the best time post processing these. I am hoping she comes back for many more photo sessions. Here are a few from the day… (it was a tad dry and static-y)

Beautiful business cards

Some time ago I produced some corporate stationery and marketing designs for Anne Brumley from Pins & Thimbles. I also suggested during one of our brainstorming sessions that she stitch each business card to enhance her brand ideals of hand made, personalised gifts.

Anne loved the idea and neither of us really knew how much work that was going to be. Poor Anne!

Today I got a lovely suprise in the mail – Anne had sent me some of the finished cards as samples and popped in a couple of her woven labels as well. Here they are looking gorgeous. Anne says the cards are a big hit with people wanting to take 2 or 3 at a time to give to friends. The accompanying card says:

“Thank you so much for your patient help with this project! You’re a star and I wish you all the best with your business – should go great guns if these cards are any guide :-)

and here they are…

Teeny Tiny pettiskirts

Yesterday I got to photograph more gorgeous pettiskirts for Marcella Creations (website on the way). She is making Teeny Tiny Pettis  for newborns (sizes for the under-1′s as well) and two-tone skirts. All skirts are custom made, so you can choose your own colours and sizes for a personalised product.

Delivery time is less than a week – she sews super fast! Email her at msmoreno@bigpond.com until her website launches (very soon!)

More ABA banners

I got back from a long 3 days shooting for 2 clients and found a happy email in my inbox. The lovely Susan Greenbank from the Australian Breastfeeding Association sent me through this image snapped by Rachel Fuller picturing Brooke Higgs, from the ABA’s VIC Branch helpline team, and the demo “baby” Luke posing next to one of my banners (that just went to print on Monday)!

We are still using the image I captured of Joannah and Jaylene at 16-ish weeks in the advertising and I’m thrilled its been so well received and still going as strong as ever. Such a great start to the weekend!

Another invite

…for someone very special.

You may remember Jaylene, the smiley happy baby that I had the distinct pleasure of photographing for the Australian Breastfeeding Association. Jaylene and her mum Jo, are the faces of the Breastfeeding Helpline advertising campaign which you may remember from a previous blog entry.

.

.

Jaylene was 16 weeks when I photographed her back in January and she will be celebrating her first birthday very shortly! Jo asked me to design an invitation for Jaylene’s party and sent through a few photos of her toothy grin to use. Well I loved the cupcake from the previous invite I’d done and ‘borrowed’ the same basic idea and put it to good use for Jaylene.

Hyde Clothing 15% off winter clearance

I did some photos earlier this year for Hyde Clothing. Toni and her mum Marcia are a mother-daughter super-duo who make gorgeous sunhats for babies and kids. This year she extended her range to include cute little flared tops she calls ‘Angel Shirts’. Toni designs, block prints and stamps some of her fabric by hand! Such sweet shirts and patterns, I LOVE the green butterfly one!

Toni started using a couple of the images this week to promote her new end of winter clearance sale. You can score 15% off across the entire range of shirts and sunhats, just in time for spring – or great to stash away as stocking stuffers for Christmas!

Make sure to check out her site www.HydeClothing.com.au and keep an eye on this blog for their new marketing collateral to be released in the next week or so.

A few images from the session below.

Marcella Creations

Marcella has been sewing since she was a young girl, so when she recently finished up with her full-time employer, it was an obvious step for her to go back to her first love – sewing. While she does custom orders for weddings, christenings and other events, she is releasing a range of pettiskirts as well. These are the first few skirts out of her home studio in Bella Vista in Sydney that I have had the honour of photographing for her website (currently under construction). You may recognise some of the models as my kids who were on loan for the day to help show off the skirts. The gorgeous red-headed child is Marcella’s gorgeous grandchild, Bethany – who I chased around with my camera, but didn’t get as  many as I would have liked of her because she was not impressed with the whole idea!

Marcella will be taking custom orders – so do consider supporting an Australian small business for your next pettiskirt purchase. Until her website launches, you can email her at msmoreno@bigpond.com.

ETA: I received this message from Marcella after this post went up:

Awesome pictures Netra – Thanks!! You are a true professional… not that I doubted for a minute…you bring tears to my eyes!!

LOOOOVE your work… x x x x x x

Pins & Thimbles

Anne from Pins & Thimbles contacted me a while ago to help her rebrand her Etsy store. Anne makes wrist wallets and moleskin purses and a variety of retro, funky and just plain cute fabrics. She wanted something that would represent her as a craftsperson and that would appeal to her target market.

Anne very cleverly asked for feedback from her clients via her blog during this process. They were clever and smart in their analysis and also very clear about what they wanted to see. We took some of that feedback, added it to the mix and applied it across all her pieces of collateral from a web banner, to online ads, to printed business cards (can’t wait to see these in real life as Anne is going to jazz them up!) and here they are…

Daley

Today I did a mini session for Daley. Daley and his lovely family have had a session with me before.

20081102_sb01

Daley does some acting (stage) in his spare time and wanted a couple of updated headshots to round out his portfolio. We actually had a lot of fun doing these, despite the spitty rain, soggy grass and overcast sky. Adults are so much easier to pose then children!
