Preparing for a session:
1. Unexpected illness: If your child has been ill or unsettled and you feel the photo shoot will be jeopardised, please inform me in advance so that the session may be rescheduled.
2. Location is key: for the comfort of the child, it is best to do a shoot in the home, in a favourite/familiar room or the garden. You may choose any other preferred location such as a park or the beach so long as this is pre-arranged.
3. Clothing: in group or family photos, the best effects are created when individuals are dressed in similar tones or colours. Harsh patterns, checks, slogans, logos or writing should be avoided. There is an additional charge to digitally remove these to improve the quality of the photos.
4. Special inclusions: if there are any items you would like included in the shoot – sentimental mementos, toys, furniture, etc. inform me in advance so that I may creatively include these in the session.
5. Duration: sessions usually take between 60 – 90 minutes. My experience shows a child usually needs to rest after this. During the shoot I will make allowances for your child to have a break, a feed, a change or a cuddle. Photos reflect if a baby is happy, relaxed and comfortable.
6. Preparation of your home/garden: since lighting enhances images, it is best to prepare any room that may be suitable for the shoot by tidying up and removing any items that may obstruct/hinder the best effects.
7. On my arrival:
• we will discuss what images you would like and how you intend to use them – if you want images for frames on a mantle, a canvas on a wall, an album, a storyboard or a combination. I need to use the appropriate technique for a particular purpose.
• I may wander through your home and/or garden to select the area with the best light.
• I will spend time getting to know your child or the group before I whip out my camera. Good rapport makes for relaxed, happy images.
After your photo session…
Within 2 weeks you will receive a link via email which will take you to your own password-protected online viewing gallery. You are most welcome to share the link with friends and family.
The gallery will remain online for 2 weeks during which time you are expected to place your order using the supplied order form. You will then receive an invoice which needs to be paid in full by EFT or cheque for the print production to commence.
From this point, it generally takes 7 to 10 working days for your prints to be ready. However, canvas prints and mounting do take a bit of extra time, so please take this into consideration. Most print orders are sent to you in secure packaging via Express Post. In the case of large storyboard prints or mounted pieces, pick-up or delivery to your home address is probably a better option.
Please do not hesitate to contact me at netrac@optusnet.com.au if you have any questions.
